About us

The Instructors

Lisa Leach is an experienced instructor, coach, and equine judge. Driven by her motto, "Learn to be one with your horse", she takes pride in running an excellent equestrian facility for all ages. As the manager of Rocking L Ranch, her goals include teaching students about patience and trust while they bond with their horse. With over 25 years of experience in all equine concentrations, Lisa shows she is dedicated to her students successes; even the smallest step is still a step in the right direction.

Sam Leach is a novice, seasonal instructor and collegiate polo player for Oklahoma State University. With Lisa as her first coach and mentor, Sam continues to follow in her mother's footsteps by pursuing her dream of one day owning her own ranch. She enjoys instructing people in all equine concentrations, as well as teaching about the horse itself. Due to her schooling, lessons and training with Sam are limited.

The Facility

The ranch, located in Morris, IL, consists of a large, fully insulated indoor arena attached to two adjacent horse barns. The dimensions of the indoor arena are 60x120 feet. When the weather is nice, students enjoy riding in the larger, outdoor arena (110x220 feet). Lined on the south and west sides with trees, there is optimal shade for both the horse and rider on warmer days. The facility as a whole has no tolerance for bullying. Since horseback riding may be used for therapy, it is important for everyone to be kind and respectful to one another.

The Students

At Rocking L Ranch, students' ages range from 3 years old to 80+. With variations of experience and confidence in riders, there are horses for every level of student. As students progress in their learning, they can have the option to show a horse or even join the Interscholastic Equestrian Association (IEA) team. Please, contact Lisa for further information regarding competing.
